I haven't post anything this week. Why? because, I had a really bad stomach bacteria. It started as a stomach flu, but, after so many test is a bacteria and I have been taking tons of meds. Been out of work, taking some days off, justat home and running labs trips. I promise that after I feel better I will update all of you and I will keep posting. For now, I am resting and praying to the Lord for a full quick recovery. Blessings!!

Last night, I went to the Thrift Store. Found this Kenneth Cole pair of black flat shoes. Like new for $4.95! I googled and found out that the original price is $210.00. WOW! My jaw dropped. Seriously, $210.00? That was the highlight of my day.

Girls Night Out

I am so happy it's Friday. I been feeling like this for the past couple of days. I am starting to feel good and excited about this new life for me. Sometimes, yes, I get emotional, but, knowing that God is the captain of my ship and that He is control of my situation, it's a relief. His Peace is like no other. Saturday, we spent the day at home. I was cleaning and trying to get my self motivated for Spring cleaning. Anyways, Caleb was in a Star War mode this weekend. He got dressed as a one of the characters, he played with lifesabers and watched Start Wars movies all day long on Saturday. I love when Caleb spent his day playing and having fun at home with me.

Spring cleaning is in the air, I know. Last night, I was looking what do I need to get rid off from the kitchen? I like to cook and bake; and I think that is my excuse of having to many tools. And that's not it; I also have a 2 baskets full of tools. I tried to get rid of the one that are old, but, I couldn't. Why? Because, they still look good. Tried of the one I don't use often, but, then, the what if, question came on my mind. The only thing I had done was clearing out the messy drawer. Next, will be my room, Caleb's room and the basement. Have start your Spring cleaning yet?

Yesterday, my soon to be ex husband had a dentist appointment, he was going for a dental procedure. He called me, and asked me to be with him at the dentist office. I agreed. I am still having problems when I am supposed to say no. After all, they couldn't do anything because of insurance issues. Any ways, we went to eat lunch at this famous diner here in Philly. Even President Obama and Hillary had been at this dinner. Excellent food and good place to eat. Love the colors of their tiles and vintage decoration. This place has been in Philadelphia since 1932.

Little by little, one breath at a time, I am adjusting to my new life as a single mom. I am a schedule person. For some reason I need a list or schedule, to go thru the day. Now, that I am a single mom I need it more than ever. Caleb, is like me; we need a list to go thru the day. Last night, we made a schedule. I told him few ideas and what I was expecting him to do after school. He likes the idea. Specially a schedule that he created and with his own hand writting. I thought it looks cute and decided to post about it.

I work with awesome christian people. I have learn so much for the past 3 years. A lot of my co-workers are misionary or come from misionary families. Lot of frugal sweet people of God. This morning, one of them is Rachel. She came to me this morning and gave me a big Mason jar full of honey, from her grandfather"s farm. I am so bless to work with people that pray for you and care about you. Thank you God for your provisions.

How to start....I have ideas and I been reading magazines, blogs, articles, etc...So, I am going to start with the kitchen, my room and Caleb's room. I will call the GW and ask if they have a system were they can come to my house and pick up the stuff. I also need to organize the basement and because the washer and dryer are there, I will like to have a table were I can fold the clothes. I think the basement will look better and I will feel better if I give a lot I mean a lot of stuff to someone who really needs it and can give a good care.

Yesterday, was a special day for us at work. We are in the process to build our 3rd site. I work for Esperanza Health Center. We are a christian health community promoters. We offer good quality of health care to the north Philadelphia community. We spread the gospel and give to others the Good News of Salvation while we are at work. God has bless us in so many ways. We can't just stop praising Him for all the things that He has done and knowing that He holds our future is more than enough. We just want to serve God and give Him all the glory. We have a heart and compassion for our patients. This picture is me and the Mayor of Philadelphia, yesterday, at the groundbreaker ceremony. It was a day full of happiness. I had the opportunity to sign and glorify His holly name.

Sick

I started feeling sick yesterday at work. Then it was getting worst on my way home. I thought I was going to vomit on the bus. It was horrible. Got home cooked something quick for Caleb. Then, went straight to bed. I had a stomach flu. Vomiting, nausea, not so much diarrhea (TMI, I know). Then, this morning Caleb told me that today was pajama day at school. Ok, fine, he went on pajamas to school. I called my job calling in sick, I am not going to work today. While, I was in bed I received a phone call from school. Caleb was in the principal office because today was NOT pajamas day. I had to go to school give him his uniform change clothes and come back home. I am really really sick. Still in bed not happy at all that Caleb made me go to school. Any ways, my plans for today? Nothing. Be in bed all day! Please Lord come to my rescue!!

Heal 2011

That's my little word for this year 2011. I have found healing thru very small simple things around me. For example, I love having more cook meals at home. When I am depress, I feel like nothing can bring me back to happiness. This year I am learning to go thru my problems and work on it instead of avoiding them. I am getting a lot better, taking one breath at a time. Knowing that the Lord has never been away from me. On His word I have found so much peace and hope. "Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth"' Psalm 1245:8.

I couldn't go to church. Why? Well...because, I didn't manage time well...I feel awful. I don't like to miss church. Love going to church and praise the Lord. I like to be organized and in schedule. No matter how much I rush, how much I plan things. There always dirt on the floors, dishes in the sink, messy living room, Legos everywhere. I need to be more organize with time. Starting NOW! Yesterday, was a rough day for me. I had to go on my knees and be honest with God. I told him how I feel. I was hopeless. I didn't see any promises from Him to me. Then, I spoke with a dear friend, she told me that all HIS promises are mine. Then, on my daily devotion this morning, God sent His manna to me: "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit". Romans 15:13

I found this bench at my favorite thrift store. I had always wanted a white (vintage look) bench. Because, I have been inside of the house for 3 days, I decided to paint and re-do the bench. Snow is in the air

No school, no work. The city of Philadelphia was paralized. No public transportation, no mail, most of the stores were closed. We got about 16.3" of snow. Caleb helped shovel. We had hot cocoa and donuts for breakfast. Nice day to be inside of the house. Reading, naping and watching tv. Let's see how I am going to drive tomorrow to work.

Even in the middle of this storm that I am going. I realized that God keeps been God above everything. I am learning in this journey of healing, to be grateful and learning from this experience to value more God's Will and crave everyday for His presence. I am grateful for my house. grateful that I have a comfy bed. Grateful for thrift shop blankets. It's really cold here in Philadelphia, PA. So, a nice warm and warm blankets are very welcome in our house.

Snow, Ice and Rain

This is Philadelphia's winter weather this year. Last winter was storm after storm. Huge amount of snow. This winter has been a mix of everything. The roads are frozen cover with black ice. Last week, I was in car accident with 5 other cars, including an ambulance. Thank God nothing bad happened to any of us. It's really scary drive on this conditions. Today, we have ice rain. The school are open 2 hours later than regular schedule. My job is open, but, 2 hours later as well. It's a cozy weather, at least that's how I call it. Last night it was freezing. I decided to make homemade macaroni and cheese with fish sticks. It was yummy. So, good that we are going to eat left overs tonight.

Lazy day after the Blizzard

Here in Philadelphia, PA, we had a blizzard yesterday. Lots of snow and wind. Thank God our office was closed today for the holidays. Good/perfect time! So, been at the house all day, what else can I do? Well, I decided to do more homemade gifts for friends at the office and baked some gingerbread cookies. While Caleb is outside playing in the snow with friends from the block.

Thank you Lord, for Your Peace. I been praying this couple months for Peace & Joy. I don't know when or how is God going to work in my marriage, my life as a christian person, mother, daughter, sister and friend. I only depend on Him. Knowing that He is REAL and that He is the only God and by walking by faith is how I am going to have Peace. For the last couple of weeks, I have been waking up around the same time. Between 3:00 am. Arrggghhhhh! I hated! That's all I can say. Then, around 5:00am I am starting to get sleepy. not good. Why? Because I have to get up at 6:00am. Caleb's school bus comes at 7:00am, sometimes at 6:50am. So, I know I have a lot stress and questions and fears. why? Because, I have to face reality. I am getting divorce. I feel that my dream of having a family is gone. My husband stills want to get divorce, his reason? Well, he doesn't want to have stress and pressure. He wants to be free and doesn't want commitment. Ha! Go figure! After 14 yrs of been married, he realized he doesn't want a commitment. I feel crush and heart broken. Caleb is been a trooper. It really surprising me that he is doing "ok". His dad and I don't argue on front of him. We discuss our problem either on my lunch time or over the phone. By the way he already has his own apartment, so, that HURTS. A lot! Just asking God for wisdom. Because, I don't know how to do it with out my husband. Asking God to be strong and have faith. So, what do I do when I wake up in the middle of the night? I take the dog to the backyard (well...I just open the kitchen door and let him go outside), make my self a cup of chamomile tea and write on my journal until I feel sleepy again. Even if I only sleep for one hour.

A day in Haddonfield, NJ

Today, was a really cold day. I drove to Haddonfield, NJ. It's like 2 blocks full of nice shops. Caleb and I walked for a little and saw cute nice stores windows. We ate lunch and watched the Eagles game (we lost). Then before coming home we stop at Starbucks for my favorite this time of the year, Gingerbread latte with skim milk.

Today, I woke up in a very good mood. Caleb and I decided to put our Christmas tree up today. I really love this time of year. It's nice and cold outside. We have a little bit of snow on thanksgiving day. I went to basement and found so many decorations that I brought on clearence last year, so, that also helps me to get motivated and start the Christmas spirit around the house.

My first grocery bag

I been taking sewing classes. Our first class was grocery bags. It isa reversal bag, so, you have to choose to 2 diffrent fabrics. I can't believe how easy it is! It took us 2 hours from step one to finished. I also signed up for others classes, such like: make your own skirt and how to do zipper pouches. I am really excited about the classes. The teacher is AWESOME! I also love were is located. It is in center city Philadelphia, very historic area. The store has the most amazing fabrics and tools for sewing. Close to nice coffee shops and beautiful houses. Well....here is a pic of the fabric that I choose and my bgrocery bag.

Cleaning operation

This is how Caleb's room looked yesterday morning. CRAZY! I know!!!! Yikes!!! So, I was brave enough and decided to cleaned. I started at 8:00am and finished at 6:00pm. It took 3 garbage bags. Loaded with unused toys, clothes and garbage. I told Caleb, that for now on, this is how I want to see his room until he is off to college. No allowances AT ALL, if his room is not clean . He agreed.....now all I have to do is wait and see.

Last night we had movie night. We watched Toy Story 3. Instead of Pop Corn, Caleb wanted S'mores. I got this nice S'mores fondue set at the Goodwill for $2.95! Really cute. I also brought this jumbo marshmallows, they were so huge, it was so hard to keep the marshmallows in place with the chocolate and the Graham crackers. What a mess!!!. But, so worth it and YUMMY!

Last weekend I went to a retreat. Our theme was to be in silence and listen to God's whispers. It was the first time that I go to a retreat like that. You are by your self in a cottage then for dinner time we got together and talk about our expiriences. Here is a few pictures of my cottage.

I been so busy, with my job, house, chores, errands, retreats, son and husband. I will post tonight pictures of the retreat I went this weekend. It was a Silence/Discipline retreat with 9 other girls in PA. Try to do everything I am supposed to do as a wife, mom, daughter, friend, co worker, etc…I am tired physically and mentally. I am taking a mini vacation this week from Thursday-Sunday. I will post updates as soon as I can. Thrift Shop Lamp

I went to my favorite thrift store on Thursday and found this nice lamp. It is brand new and goes perfect with our living room. What is better is how much it cost. Do you want to guess? Well.....it cost $12.95! I love going to the thrift shop and look for bargains. I used to pay regular prices at the store with out even care about the price. Now, I don't even look at regular prices stuff when I am the stores. I go straight to the clearence rack. Makes me feel good, specially when I look at the botom of the receipt and I see how I had save.

Today, is the first day I had to wear leggins (thick) and wearing my dansko shoes because it is so nice and cold outside. I met a friend from work for breakfast this morning and both us were shaking because of the cold wind blowing while we were walking to the diner. Breakfast with friends

Yesterday I had breakfast at my house. Two of my friends from work came over. Jjessica and Isabel both from China. We work in a christian health care, which most of the staff are missionaries from all over the world. I made Pumpkin Waffles and we also had fresh friuts. I had a great time. We laughed and we prayed for each other.

Your Grace

Today I had a good remainder of God's Grace. That is still there for us. Even in the middle of our troubles in life, HIS Grace is still in abundance for us if we seek for it. Trip to the mall

Caleb received an invitation to the new Lego store in Delawere. We all went to the mall. The kids had to help the Lego store staff to build a gigantic Arturitus(sp?). At the end they gave the kids a certificate for helping the gigantic project. The store was so crowed and kids running all over and parents looking for the kids holding big boxes of Legos. After all we had a good time.

Finally! Saturday, I cleaned and decorated the house for Fall. Love the smell of Hazelnut candles or the Pumpkin pie bread that I baked. There is a diffrent breeze in the air, the leaves are changing colors. Time to put summer clothes away and bring out the fall wardrobe.

Even with my lower back pain, I went out with my friends for dinner. We decided to go to Five Guys. I had never been there because they only serve burgers and hot dogs and I am not a big fan of red meats. But, they kept saying how good this place is and how great their french fries are, so, we went there. The place is a very small place but there burgers and friesI have to asdmit that they were very good. Homemade taste and not to grease for me. We spoke and laugh (really loud) but, defenetly I had a great time with friends.

Low back pain

I been having low back pain all this week. But, today is the worst day. I don't know if is the weather or what? I thought I was not going to be able to come to work. I managed to get out of bed and come to work. I think I am going to leave early and go to the pharmacy and buy me one of those Therma Heat packs. I can barely walk. I hope this pain doesn't get worst because we have such a busy weekend starting today. I feed my aunt after work every Firday. She almost 90 and has Alzheimer. Then I have girls night out. Tomorrow morning the dog has an appt. with the groomer another birthday party for my cousin's son. Sunday church and my husband wants to visit a new chinesse restaurant that just recently open in a small town close to Philly. Plus, I want to decorate the house for Fall and laundry is piling up!!!! LORD!!!!!

My Lego man

Caleb is really good with Legos. Always been good at it. I am blessed with my boy. He won't play video games. He may play for 15 or 30 mts. top, once every other month. We got him a Lego's magazine subscription. He got an invitation for a new Lego store opening next month. They will provide them with Legos (of course) to build something specific and they will win prices. He is really excited. This is his very first contest and his been talking about it with friends and family members.

Back to school routine

The evenings feel different. I love the smell of fresh new pencil been sharpened and I love the noise of changing pages from a notebook. Fall is almost here, I can feel the cool breeze at night and now we are having chilli mornings. Evenings at house looks like this: Caleb's swim lessons on Wednesday, me coming back from work, start dinner, bathroom time, and homework time. I need to help Caleb with his spanish homework an reading, so, with that said it takes a lot of time for us to finish before 8:00pm. Still Fall is my favorite time of the year.

Last weekend of Summer 2010

Caleb spent the last 3 weeks of summer at my inlaws and mom's house in Florida. He had a blast. I went for a week and returned the day before school started. We went to Cocoa beach. It was a beautiful day. Not to hot and it was breezy. Been this the last weekend of summer and I decided to post some of the pictures of the beach at Florida.

Last night Caleb and I went to Center City again.....We took the train and went to the city to have a cup of cappuccino and Caleb had a Gelato chocolatte. Nice weather and good asthmosphere. The simply life style is the best.

On Saturday we deceided to go to Center City Philadelphia. There is a huge park were people ride their bikes, skate boards, walk, etc...We took our bikes, blankets, picnic baskets and homework with us. The weather was GREAT! We had an awesome time. Then, I was brave enough to make homemade pasta. I made fettuccini alfredo. Everything from scratch. It tasted wonderful, soft and creamy. It was my first time making pasta and it came out good. Now, I don't think I will buy more dry pasta, lol. So, we had a great weekend. Caleb is leaving to Florida to be with his grandparents for two weeks and I will pick him up the following week to spend some quality vacation time with him.

This summer I been baking more than ever! I have baked muffins, bread, cakes and lemon pies. I also reading lots of cooking books, because I want to be more creative and be more frugal. This past weekend I found a recipe for a strawberry /poppy seeds muffin recipe and it was really yummy. I got Caleb's approval as well!

Quick update on my life. I am starting to learn how to be confident about my self. To love who I am, after the lies of 17 yrs. my husband told to me. I am loving life everyday more. Having God as the center of my life feels awesome. I feel FREE!. Caleb sometime say:" I wish you guys stay together". I stop what ever I am doing and talk with him and leting him express how he feels. It's a process and we are learning from it day by day.

Ten years ago we were living in Florida. Caleb born at 11:01pm, August 2, 2000. My only born son after 2 miscarriages. God has bless me with such God fearing boy, knowing that God is the only God and the only one who should have the Glory. Caleb: Mami LOVES you!!!!!! Smart, honest, God loving and with a humble heart that's how I can describe Caleb today. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY BOY!

Been more Green at the house

Paper napkins bothered me for two reasons:

1. Using them was very wasteful.

2. Purchasing them constantly was cutting into my food budget.

They are simple to sew yourself, even without a sewing machine. I picked up some remnant fabric to make the set I’m about to show you but you can really think outside the box with these. Do you have sheets or pillowcases that you no longer use? How about a men’s collared shirt? Do you have old curtains shoved into a linen closet? Any of these things could be washed, cut and sewn into cloth napkins. Get creative. To avoid using napkin rings, each person could have a different-looking napkin.

It's been over a year now that I've been gracing my table with soft, cotton, love-squares and I'll never go back to paper again. This is one of my earlier changes, and since its implementation, our little family has avoided using over 2,000 paper napkins.

Switching from paper to cloth is not a difficult change to make and I'm surprised more people don't do it. It's cheap and classy, how often does that happen?!? Let's face it: cloth napkins aren't just for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. They are for everyday, every meal.

New Recipe: Zucchini & Carrots Patties

I found this recipe in another blog that I read and made it last night. It is so YUMMY! with the ricotta inside and the flavors from the thyme and garlic....mmmmm yummy. We have some lefts over for tonight. If you want this recipe plase let me know I will post it.
Sooooooo....here is the recipe:

2 zucchinis, shredded and squeezed through cheese cloth

4 carrots, shreadded

1 sweet onion, diced

2 eggs

1/2 cup Swiss cheese, diced into small squares

1/2 cup Parmesan cheese

salt

pepper

1 tsp. thyme

1 tsp. garlic powder

about 1 cup of bread crumbs

(or enough to make the zucchini/carrots come together)

Form small palm sized patties, place in a heated pan with olive oil and butter. Warm until golden brown and flip.
Enjoy!

God is been talking to me about gossip. I am guilty about that and it has to come to an end! This is someting that I need to work on it, because I don't want to have the label that I am the one who brings the office gossip. Started praying lastnight about it and feel really ashamed about this sin in my life. I will keep praying that God guard my heart and my mouth.

I spent the whole weekend alone. Caleb was with his dad and because of the trip been cancelled I was at home by my self. So, after so much cleaning and organizing some closets, I decided to cook outside. Well, the weather was perfect nice sunny hot July day in Philadelphia. Guess what? as soon I was going to the backyard it started rainning but, rain with strong winds. I am like.....REALLY? REALLY? Arrrggghhhhh!!!!! SO, I went inside and said I am going to grill no matter what. Meat came up very good but my favorite was the grill pinapples. YUMMY!

Trip has been cancelled

My kitchen herbs

Just a quick look at my kitchen herbs. I usually have my herbs outside in the garden; this year I decided to have them inside of my kitchen. That way I can see and smell them. It's a reminder for my self that I have them. Some summer I forget what I have and enede up loosing everything because I forgot I have them. So, this year they have been in my kitchenand because I see them I used them more often. Ihave Chives, oregano, thyme, rosemary, basil and parsely.

It's been brutal, the heat here in Philadelphia this year it's been way to much. I went to Trader Joes and brought lots of lemons for lemonade. But, this little man went ahead of me. I went to the kitchen and this is what I found. He started his own lemonade. Came up really good after I scared him. Love you, Caleb, LOVE, mami.
